Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker with Bonus 350 Micro FiltersCustomer Review: Great for Iced Coffee Summary: 5 Stars
Before the AeroPress I used a French Press to make my iced coffees in the morning. I much prefer the Aero over the French because I never liked the layer of coffee sludge. The shot of espresso I get from the Aero gives me the closest match to an iced americano espresso drink. I usually use 2 tbs of really finely ground coffee, almost powdery, with hot water up to the #2. I really like using Peet's Alta de Dota or Garuda blend.
I'd say it takes some practice to get the hang of it and to create your "perfect" cup. But once you figure it out, you'll be enjoying perfect coffee everytime!
<<TRICK: I pour in the water while stirring, then quickly insert the plunger and then pull it up a bit. I found this creates suction in the chamber and allowing me to keep the coffee in the chamber so it brews longer. I let it sit for 10 seconds before pressing down. Sometimes my suction trick doesn't work. But even without doing it I still get great results.
Customer Review: Fast, easy, great tasting coffee & espresso! Summary: 5 Stars
We love our Aeropress! We had been using a French Press until the glass broke, and instead of replacing it, we went with the Aeropress because it's made of heavy duty plastic and is essentially unbreakable. It takes up very little space, it's a cinch to clean, the coffee is rich and delicious, and it's portable. We will take it camping and on the road. It does take a little muscle to press the plunger, and you need a sturdy mug to push it down on because a fragile tea cup might shatter. Still, it's the best method we've found and worth the effort.
Also, check out the Aerolatte, to foam warm milk and make a latte at home and on the cheap: Aerolatte To Go, Milk Frother, Black
Or if you don't want to use batteries, try something like: Harold Import Company Frothing Pitcher
Customer Review: Best Coffee Maker Out There - Throw Your Espresso Machine Away! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best coffee maker out there. We had purchased an espresso machine only a few weeks before I got this for my husband's birthday. After a week of owning this, we put the espresso machine in the closet to "save space." After a month, we gave the espresso machine to our church. Every friend or family member who has had coffee at our house has bought one. You will love coffee from this, trust me! It makes espresso or Americano, one cup at a time. It takes the bitterness out of your morning cup of coffee. My husband can drink his coffee black now, and I can use way less sugar than I did before, because the coffee is so much less bitter! If you add chocolate syrup and milk to this coffee you can make your own mochas. It is like having a gourmet coffee shop in your own kitchen! It is small enough for travel and I now take it with me on trips so that I no longer have to drink any nasty hotel coffee. This coffee maker has changed my (coffee-drinking) life!
Customer Review: Push It Real Good Summary: 5 Stars
Despite glowing reviews and this gadget inventor's pedigree, I was still skeptical. I was so eager to test it I started the boiler before I unpack AeroPress. After 4 cups of espresso grind, 8 oz of water, and a good push, I am now a believer. Everything performed as I visualized and the clean up was... ridiculously minimal. I almost felt guilty NOT having much to clean up afterwards. ~written while sipping on a nice cup of espresso
Additional Comment 3/31/2010:
After 2+ weeks of using this product on a daily basis I must come back and add another star to my rating. If you like your coffee smooth, strong, and the way you like it, there's not another product like it elsewhere. The pressing part might be more difficult if using a fine grind and has 3+ cups of coffee grinds. I personally has no problems at all but I would suggest trying with 1 cup of coffee grind to get use to the pressure as you press. You gonna love this!!
Customer Review: Keurig smurig Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this press for over 2 years and am still loving it enough to log-in just to make this review. I recently got a Keurig single serving coffee maker at work and the Aeropress just has no competition.
I drink my coffee black so i'm very sensitive to the acidity of the coffee and with the Aeropress there is no such acidity. The Aeropress is almost as convenient and definitely does not create any extra waste in comparison to the keurig. All you get in the trash is a small round piece of paper which can totally be reused many times over.
You can make really strong coffee and really weak coffee. Unlike the keurig where it just uses more or less water, the Aeropress allows you to add as much or as little coffee grounds to feed the need.
In a nutshell:
I Love it. Totally portable, Totally easy and Totally quick.
