Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Adagio Teas 16-Ounce Ingenuitea Teapot

Customer Review: Quick, easy and no mess
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife bought one of these when we were vacationing in Eureka Springs a year ago, and I thought it was another gizmo to add to the cupboard. Was I wrong. I started using it more and more, mostly for green tea, and thought it would be good to have one for work as well. So I ordered one from Cooking.com and use it all the time. I just put the tea leaves in the container, add hot water, let it sit for 5 minutes, then set it on top of my cup. The valve on the bottom opens up and the tea pours into the cup, with out the leaves (with the green tea I buy from China, the leaves are full leaves, and I can get another 2 cups out of it, so refilling is easy). The nice thing is, I can use it for coffee as well as black tea. The coffee, especially if you grind your own, tastes so much better. To clean, I just invert in a trash can, and rinse out what's left.

Customer Review: Adagio Teapot
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this teapot to brew loose tea. I read all about different ways to brew loose tea. Americas Test Kitchen is usually my most reliable source for equipment and recipes and they win again! This teapot is absolutely wonderful. You put a teaspoon of loose tea in the teapot, add hot water from the kettle and watch the tea swirl around and steep. At the end of 4 minutes or so, you place this heavy plastic pot on top of your teacup and the brewed tea simply pours into your cup leaving the grounds in the pot. It's really fun to watch. The directions on the teapot package say that you can put water in the teapot and microwave it instead of adding boiling hot water, but I like to add mine already hot.
I wouldn't trade my Adagio Teapot! It is a great invention and my husband and I use it almost every day.

Customer Review: Works exactly as expected.
Summary: 5 Stars

I just used this for the first time, and so far it's a breeze. I heated the water separately, not in the microwave, and poured it over some "Peaches & Flowers" tea from Infuzions. The tea is great and the teapot works really well. There were no leaks or anything like I sort of expected. I did read that one person complained that some small particles of tea get through, and this is true. There's only a little bit and it stays on the bottom of the cup, so I would just avoid drinking the very last little bit.
Even though it says easy to clean, I did expect it to be a pain to clean the filter, but it wasnt. I dumped out most the leaves, and rinsed the rest with the little hose from the sink, and it literally all just washed out and was totally clear.

Customer Review: Just what i was looking for!

I love this! I had purchased a mug in China that was similar, but only brewed about 4 ounces at a time. This teapot is much more efficient and can brew a full cup (16 ounces). The best part is that it keeps everything very tidy. I found other loose tea options (tea spoon, or tea ball) to be really messy and only good for one cup. With this, i can add my tea, brew it and keep the leaves inside the pot for a second brew.

The only problem that i have had is that the Jasmine Tea i like is long and stringy. A couple of times, the tea strands have blocked the plunger at the bottom so it is open and doesn't hold water. This problem hasn't impacted the plunger overall, it works perfectly once i have cleaned and re-loaded with new tea.

Customer Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought 8: one for me, 3 for my adult children (I gave it to them a week ago, for Valentine's--they love it, too) and 4 for my sibs (for next Christmas). I had seen it on America's Test Kitchen & thought it was 'must have'--I really trust their evaluations. It's a great little invention: easy to use, easy to clean and effective in brewing and transferring tea. It allows the leaves to steep more affectively by providing more tealeaf-to-water contact than a tea ball. One feature I like: you can control how much tea comes out by lifting the 'pot'--I was concerned the full amount would dump out at once. Our Japanese daughter-in-law is frequently giving us specialty tea leaves--so this is perfect. (she loves hers, as well.)
Buy it, you'll like it!
