Customer Review: A must for loose leaf tea drinkers!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been a life long tea drinker. Back in college I tried the whole tea ball and loose leaf tea thing, but winged it without reading about how to do it right, and gave up when the results weren't worth it.

Fast forward to a year ago when I visited a cafe that used this Adagio teapot to serve my tea. I was amazed at the teapot and the tea. It was great! The cafe happened to sell the teapot (for more $ than here), and I bought it, and promptly stuck it away until three months ago when I was gifted with some loose leaf tea. This time I took the time to research the brew differences between the various teas, and I'm doing it right this time. If you like tea then you must have this teapot. Tea balls and tea filters just won't work as well as this teapot. I learned that your tea leaves need room to move and expand for the best brewing, and this teapot allows that to happen. I don't want to sound dorky, but it's beautiful to see the dancing leaves during the brewing process. Once the brewing is complete you simply sit the teapot on top of your tea cup or mug, and it releases the mechanism that allows the tea to drain down into your cup. The filter at the bottom of the pot is very fine, so that you can use all types of loose leaf tea without the leaves getting into your tea. It's dishwasher safe, too.

Just get it. You'll love it, and Adagio has great service. Get one of the pots with a sample set of teas. That's your best buy.

Customer Review: Drove me to drinking... tea
Summary: 5 Stars

For years I have wished I liked tea so that I could have a warm non-coffee drink in the morning, but I just couldn't find a tea I liked. Turns out that it was teabag tea that was the problem. Loose leave has such a better taste. Do yourself a favor and get some high quality tea to go with your ingenuiTEA teapot. As for using this gizmo, it couldn't be easier. I use mine at work every day.

1. Put in loose leave tea
2. Put in hot water (I heat up mine in the microwave in a mug because I can't have a stand alone electric kettle at work)
3. Wait (the least fun part)
4. Place on mug
5. Drink, but very carefully

It is very easy to clean. Just dump out the leaves and rinse. The valve assembly works flawlessly with no dripping. The valve also works on almost any type of glass/mug. I have used it on your standard coffee mug, wider tea cups and narrower thermos like containers. I like very light teas so the clear style of this gadget works great. I can just glance over and see the color. No more over steeping, or staring down into a dark mug wondering what color the tea is. Thank you Adagio Teas and Amazon for making me a tea drinker.

Customer Review: Great little teapot
Summary: 5 Stars

I really like this item, a Christmas gift from me to me. I use boiling water and until I run out of teabags, I tear the top off and dump one into the Ingenuitea teapot. Just remember to "seat" the filter with a little boiling water before dumping in the tea leaves (actually from a teabag - it's tea powder)to steep until the leaves settle to the bottom for my first cup. Then as I place Ingenuitea on just about any large mug I own - it fits just fine and gives me clear, deep colored, great tasting tea. I then add another teabag's worth of leaves on top of the ones I just used and add more hot water to steep for my second cup. There is no need to seat the filter for the second cup - it's still warm enough in the Ingenuitea. Later, I dump the tea leaves in the garbage, rinse out the Ingenuitea in the sink and it's ready for the next day or for a cup of green tea in the evening. Yes - there is a taste difference when using the Ingenitea vs. a regular teabag in a cup. The tea is stronger (every bit of the tea has time and space to steep)and better - like tea used to be. I can't wait to use the rest of my teabags and then experiment with loose leaf teas - perhaps a nice Earl Grey.

Customer Review: Ingenious tea brewing
Summary: 5 Stars

I've always used tea bags for simplicity. I liked the idea of being able to choose higher quality loose tea, but didn't want a big production to make a cup of tea. I saw this teapot reviewed by America's Test Kitchen on one of their TV shows and thought it looked worth a shot. I'm quite happy. Brewing tea is trivial, just dump in a spoon of loose tea and add hot water. When the tea is ready you just set the teapot on top of your cup and a valve in the bottom opens and the tea pours into the cup, strained by a fine mesh strainer in the bottom of the pot. Dozens of cups later the valve has never leaked a drop, nor have any tea leaves sneaked past the strainer. The pot comes with a plastic saucer to set the pot on.

Washing is the only potential downfall. You're left with a bunch of wet tea stuck inside the pot. I just rinse it out with plenty of water into the garbage disposal in my sink and then run the garbage disposal for a few seconds. If you don't have a garbage disposal then washing out the teapot might be more of a chore. The strainer and valve were also stained by the tea right away, which might bother some folks.

Customer Review: Great addition for any tea drinker
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this because I made the switch from bagged tea to loose leaf for the supposed higher quality of tea made from loose leaf and I needed a way to strain the tea leaves out after steeping. Both the website (adagio.com) and the product itself got good reviews and I thought it had a cool easy to use design so I decided to try it. It works flawlessly! Put the tea leaves in then add the water, let it steep, then simply set it on top of the cup you want to drink from and the tea drains out of the bottom and the leaves are stained and left inside the ingenuitea cup. The filter snaps in place easily to be removed for cleaning or replacement. I believe it is dishwasher and microwave safe but I personally don't do either. I wash it by hand before switching teas and boil my water in an electric kettle and pour it into the cup with the leaves in it. The only improvement I could think of is to use glass or metal instead of plastic (preferably glass to keep the cool see through design) although surely the plastic used is bpa-free. This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone looking for a product to steep and strain loose leaf tea.
