Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Vidalia Slice WizardCustomer Review: this is a quality item Summary: 5 Stars
This slice wizard is first rate. It slices uniformly each and every time. The slices are all the same size and shape with no variance. I would order this for gifts for my fussiest friends.
Customer Review: Great slicer Summary: 5 Stars
This is really great because it cuts vegetables easily, quick and safely. I use it to cut all kinds of vegetables and some fruits. I definately reccomend this!
Customer Review: Works Pretty Well Summary: 4 Stars
I got one of these for both me and my Mom. While it doesn't work quite as smoothly as Billy Mayes made it work, I have enjoyed using mine.
Customer Review: I give this a thumbs up and a thumbs down Summary: 3 Stars
I won this item off of Ebay for about $10 and you can say I did get my monies worth. A few weeks ago I had cut 9 hard potatoes by hand and my hand went numb and tingly and it scared me half to death because it took over a hour for my feeling to come back. I searched for potato cutters and saw this on the 'Try It Before You Buy It' segments on several news station websites. Real people used this and gave it high marks so I decided to get it. Unfortunately I couldn't find this anywhere so I was desperate and ended up buying a Veg-O-Matic until I could find the slicer. The Veg-O-Matic was wonderful!! I was able to cut about 9 potatoes into fries in under 5 minutes!!! I figure if this could do what it did then the slicer should be even better.
The pros about the Vidalia Slicer: It gives your potatoes even cuts. If you run hot water over it immediately after you cut a potato then the clean ups a cinch.
The cons: You have to figure out how to put in on the protector. Once you do it doesn't stay secure. It doesn't cut all the way to the end. The end of the potato gets jammed in the blade and you have to try to figure out how to get the potato unjammed w/o slicing off a few limbs. When you figure out how to get the remaining uncut potato off the blade you have to cut the rest with a regular knife. Once the potato is cut you have to physically pull them apart because it's like cutting a potato along a dotted line and having to pull them apart.
This is all of the things I went through after using the slicer twice. Even though it cuts my potatoes in record time I have to do extra things in order to get cut potatoes and that's the part where it displeases me. I'm going to keep this because I love french fries and will refuse to cut anymore potatoes by hand. I haven't tried it on any other vegetable but I believe it will give me the same results as the potato.
Customer Review: Not the best but it works Summary: 3 Stars
You can do a lot with this gadget. Some of them better and easier than others. For being so cheaply made it works fairly well.
If I want to slice an onion or just one item it is too much trouble. I can have the slicing done before even getting this thing set up.
If there is a lot of items it comes in handy. It certainly isn't the best slicer/ dicer out there but it works
