Customer Review: bargain for the price

I purchased this product for making pretzels. I was expecting something less, since it was so cheap. Let me describe this to you in a little more detail than they give here.
The bowl of the skimmer is 7 7/8" across (not quite the full 8 inches they advertise) and about 1 3/4" deep. The wires of the bowl are welded smooth where they join together, making it so that there aren't sharp edges for a soft piece of food to catch on. (I purchased this for making pretzels--so that was relevant.) As you can see in the picture, the wire circles that make up the bowl are reinforced with wires that cross the bowl. What you can't see is that there are two sets of these wires--one on the inside of the bowl, and one on the outside of the bowl, making the whole thing pretty darn strong.
I expected the handle to be made of bamboo and be about the thickness of a back-scratcher. But the handle is made of wood--possibly a hardwood. It's more than 14" long if you measure starting from the edge of the bowl. It's 1 1/2" wide and is 5/8" thick, and it has smooth rounded edge, that doesn't cut into your hand. The hole cut in the end is about 1/4" in diameter--you could hang this on a nail, but probably not a hook (since the handle is thick a curved hook wouldn't fit through it.) Or you could put a string through it.
I suspect this is actually a restaurant supply item, which is why it's cheap and strong. I would have liked something with a shallower bowl, but that's not a flaw with the product--rather a flaw with the minimal description they provided. I'll be keeping this.
I'll try and come back later and report how this product has held up over time. If I haven't updated, you can assume that nothing has gone wrong with it.
