Customer Review: Good and Bad
Summary: 4 Stars

Lamp arrived in good shape but the box was trashed..too bad as I wanted to give this for a gift

Customer Review: Cute lamp but box gave away
Summary: 3 Stars

Very cute lamp it's just like the movie just WAY smaller. Very cool. BUT It was a gift to my husband for Christmas, when the box(not the actually leg lamp box) it said "LEG LAMP" on the outside of the shipping box... My husband happened to be home and called and said thanks for the leg lamp. Total disapointment, it was something he wasn't expecting and was totally excited to surprise him. Bummer.

Customer Review: A major awar^h^h^h^h disappointment
Summary: 2 Stars

This is one of those products that leads one to high expectations, and delivers the exact opposite.

Considering the high shipping costs for such a light item ($15 to ship something only a few pounds? What gives??!!) it arrived awfully late. I suppose you could chalk it up to being the Christmas season. Then again, the lamp purchase was one of several parts of the same order, made at the same time. For items I ordered from Amazon that day (mostly books and DVDs), I opted for their free "super saver" shipping, and they arrived at my house 6 days before the lamp. Adding up the weight of the books (some of them were big) and the DVDs, the total non-lamp package was twice as heavy as the lamp alone. $15 for late shipping of something light vs. *free*, fast shipping for double the weight . . . Yeah, the company distributing the leg lamps through Amazon is using a lot of BS tactics.

When I opened the box and pulled it out, my heart sank. The size was a disappointment. I guess I was thinking the leg portion of the lamp was 20", instead of the whole thing (from base to top of lamp). After I set it up, I measured it and it turns out to be 19", not the 20" they've advertised. It was at this point when I realized I'd been had. I just spent nearly $75 (when you add in shipping) on a novelty lamp that is way too small; when I put it in the window to show off the neighbors, you can't even make out that it's a leg lamp from the curb.

The overall quality of the lamp is hit and miss. There are parts of the lamp (the shade, for example) that look like they were built with quality materials and craftsmanship. Other parts seem crummy and wouldn't withstand more then a couple of moves. The bulb in the leg portion of the lamp was DOA (assuming, of course, there was even a bulb in there to begin with). The process of getting to that inside bulb is pretty tricky. However, they included instructions.

I suppose the one good thing I can say about it is that since it's so small, it is less likely to draw the "trash it" mentality a significant other might have, or if you have your boss over for dinner and you forget to hide the lamp, it's less likely for her to notice.

Shame, really. For the price they charge I would expect the full size lamp. For this novelty lamp a price tag of $35 including shipping is a more realistic cost.

If you're considering buying one, before you purchase take a tape measure and see first hand how small 19" is from the top of the desk or table to the top of the lamp you'd be getting. Also, consider how far from the floor you'd place it. The distance between the bottom of the lamp shade-sans the near transparent tassels--and the base surface is 11 ¼". The `leg' base stops looking like a leg and more like any other lamp at 10 ¼". This means that unless you're seated several inches above the bottom of the lamp shade, you'll see the leg terminating.

If this is an absolute "must have" item for you (though I can't imagine anyone actually `needing the leg lamp), go for it. For the rest of us, I'd hold off, check eBay, or spend more money and get the `full sized' model. I can't say if the full size unit will improve all of the problems addressed above, except for one: In being `actual size', you know that at the very least you'll get a lamp big enough to display in your front window of your home so every one can see.

Customer Review: Not what I expected...
Summary: 2 Stars

This is definitely a cute lamp, but I was a bit disappointed with the size. I was ok with it being 20 inches tall, but I expected the leg part to be a little smaller than a human leg (which is how it appears on the box) - instead it's actually only a litle bigger than a Barbie doll leg, which is not exactly something that can be proudly displayed in a window, nor do I feel that it was worth the amount being charged. The lamp works fine, and we have decided to keep it despite the size. The other reviewer is absolutely right in saying that there was no contact information for the company on or in the box. If we wanted to return it we would have no idea how to do so.

Customer Review: Lousy lamp, lousy purchase
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't think I've ever been as disappointed with a purchase from Amazon. On Christmas day and we gave this lamp to my father in-law. He plugs it in and turns it on...POP. The bulb appears to burn out, so I go get another. We put in the new bulb and turn on. Nothing. We turn the switch again...smoke! Then the wall outlet scorches and the circuit breaker pops.

After disassembling the lamp, we discover TWO electrical problems: 1. the switch is faulty and 2. it has been wired incorrectly. I could not have been more embarassed. We spent 3 hours re-building the lamp becase father-in-law felt bad and wouldn't let me return it.

$64 with shipping for a piece of trash. The next day we purchased all the necessary equipment to re-wire the entire lamp. Also had to buy a new wall outlet to replace the scorched one!

No warranty info, company info, or ANYTHING in the box. Basically you will get a box with the lamp inside. I plan to pursue this for my own satisfaction, but please be warned. It was a great gift (and I still believe a great idea). Unfortunately it was costly, embarassing, and above all dangerous!
