This is a great little lamp that is suitable for placement in the front window of any house; after all, it's a major award! The thing that is great about this lamp is that not only is it relatively inexpensive, but it doesn't take up much room, unlike the real size (40 inch) lamp (which I also have, and also endorse highly) which tends to overwhelm smaller rooms.
The lamp works great, although the maximum bulb wattage is pretty restrictive. The actual lamp looks even better than the Amazon illustration (particularly the hose on the leg, which appear to have a finer mesh than depicted) and it looks especially great when the internal leg light is on.
This is a great gift: it's fun, affordable, and adds a touch of class to any room (well it at least adds a touch of fun, if not class.) This is a great little leg lamp at an attractive price, but always remember: it's fra-gee-lay.

I purchased this lamp to provide extra light in my motorhome. Since most motorhomes are decorated with fabric recovered from the 1920's, this seemed to fit right in, and it does. If you own a sofa covered in huge flowers, this would make an excellent table lamp.
On a serious note, it is sturdy and has a three way switch that lights the bulb only, leg only and both at the same time. The leg only actually makes an excellent night light. This unit is 20" high, but I understand that the manufacturer also makes one twice that high, which I would love to order to place on the end of my bar at home. I wouldn't call this lamp a toy, but I don't know how else one would classify it.

Any fan of Ralphie and a Christmas Story will love this replica "Major Award". Decorate your front window at Christmas time with this "Fragile" leg lamp and impress all your neighbors. I know I'll enjoy mine for years to come. Even Scut Farkus and Grover Dill will leave you alone once displayed in your window. We purchased this gift for my dad for Christmas. And he and my mom went crazy over this. Its not as large as the one in the movie, however, its big enough to get HUGE laughs. It was well made, arrived promptly and was packaged good.
If you enjoy A Christmas Story this lamp is a must have!
